Naval Hospital Sampson Redux

Awhile ago, I blogged about a recent visit to the site of the World War II Naval Hospital at Sampson, on the east shore of the Seneca Lake in upstate New York.  One of that post’s readers, Wallace Rust, sent me a collection of photos he made when he was a Second Class Pharmacist’s Mate serving at Sampson in 1946, and some images from his 2002 visit to the hospital grounds.

I think that personal photos offer an intimacy of view that official photographs simply can’t offer.  This slide show–U S Naval Hospital Sampson NY–contains some of what I think are Wally’s best images.
